The original manga is a four-frame manga serialized in a newspaper (however, a short story manga of about five pages is serialized in a magazine and is included in "Separate Volume Sazae-san").
Soichiro Mutaguchi, general manager of the organization department of Fukunichi Shinbunsha, which became independent of Nishinippon Shimbun, asked Hasegawa to serialize it in Fukuokas local newspaper "Evening Fukunichi".
The serialization began on April 22, 1946, but the serialization was discontinued in order for Hasegawa to move to Tokyo.
At the beginning of the series, the lines were written in katakana.
The stage of the manga was Hakata, and Sazae was single, but Sazae was married to Maso when the serialization was discontinued.

After Hasegawas family moved to Sakurashinmachi, Tokyo, he resumed serialization in "Evening Fukunichi" [1].
